Frequently Asked Questions
What is 06Ni7DR steel plate used for?
06Ni7DR steel plate is mainly used for LNG storage tanks, liquefied gas vessels, cryogenic heat exchangers, LNG transport ships, and other equipment operating down to -196°C, manufactured according to GB/T 713.4.
What is the difference between 06Ni7DR and 06Ni9DR?
06Ni7DR contains 6.5–7.5% Ni while 06Ni9DR contains 8.5–10% Ni. Both are qualified for -196°C service with similar strength (YS ≥560 MPa, TS 680–820 MPa) and impact energy (≥80J). 06Ni7DR is a newly added grade in GB/T 713.4-2023 and offers better cost efficiency.
Why is residual magnetism controlled in 06Ni7DR?
06Ni7DR is a ferromagnetic nickel-alloy steel. Excessive residual magnetism can affect welding quality and arc stability. Per GB/T 713.4-2023, residual magnetism must not exceed 50 gauss. Plates should not be lifted with electromagnets or stored near high-voltage equipment.
Does 06Ni7DR require shot blasting?
Yes. Per GB/T 713.4-2023, 06Ni7DR and 06Ni9DR plates shall be shot-blasted after heat treatment to remove surface oxide scale.
Can you provide 06Ni7DR steel plates with custom sizes?
Yes. Custom rolling for thickness 5–80mm, width up to 5200mm, length up to 18000mm. Delivery: approximately 35 days Q+T, 40 days Q+Q+T.
