NM550 Abrasion Resistant Steel Plate
Chinese NM550 high strength abrasion resistant steel plate — engineered for extreme wear conditions in mining, quarrying, and heavy machinery. Meets GB/T 24186-2022 standard.
Extended Service Life
520-580 HBW hardness delivers exceptional wear resistance, 8-12x longer life than structural steel.
High Strength & Hardness
Ultra-high hardness 520-580 HBW, superior abrasion resistance for extreme conditions.
Good Workability
Can be cut, and welded using proper procedures and preheating.
Decoding the Grade: NM550
International Standards & Comparisons
Note: NM550 provides ultra-high hardness for extreme abrasion conditions. AR550/XAR550/Hardox550 are approximate commercial equivalents.
Domestic Grade Comparison (NM550 / NM550D / NM550E)
According to GB/T 24186-2022, NM550D and NM550E are low-temperature impact grades. Impact values and tensile properties shall be agreed upon between supplier and buyer.

Technical FAQ
SMAW, GMAW, FCAW. Preheat 200-250°C for thickness >20mm, low hydrogen practices. Consult welding procedure.
Not recommended for tight bends due to high hardness. Contact for technical advice.
Plasma, waterjet, abrasive cutting. Laser cutting with preheating required.
≤40mm uniform, 40-70mm slight core decrease within tolerance.
Continuous ≤200°C, short peaks ≤250°C. Higher temps reduce hardness.
D/E grade impact values by agreement. Consult supplier for specific requirements.
